- City of Azle. Represents the City with their development needs
by overseeing development review processes, meeting with citizens and
developers, preparing staff reports, advisor to the Planning and Zoning
Commission, City Council, and Zoning Board of Adjustments as well as City
Staff; provides plan review and building inspections for all development
applications.

PAST EXPERIENCE
Building Official, City of Denton, Texas
Administered and managed all activities for two divisions, building
inspections and consumer health, with a combined staff of 18. Developed and
administered a $1.85 million operating budget. Implement new and innovative
methods of service delivery to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Major Accomplishments:
- Purchased and implemented comprehensive tracking software for building
inspections, planning & code enforcement.
- Implemented an Integrated Voice Recognition (IVR) System for
inspection requests
- Implemented an Internet interface for citizen inquiries, contractor
inspection request and results, plan review comments as well as other
related permitting information
- Established an in-house training program for all staff resulting in
model code certifications for all staff exclusive of the clerical
- Established a quarterly builder’s luncheon for all contractors. This
luncheon provided a method to convey changes or problems to the
contractors as well as afford them the opportunity to make suggestions to
staff. Approximately 150 contractors attended these luncheons each quarter
- Facilitated the transition of the Inspections Division from a general
government funded system to an enterprise fund. This transition resulted
in a savings of $800,000 to the general fund while providing necessary
resources to inspections
Chief Plans Examiner, City of Denton, Texas
Reviewed plans for design compliance with the adopted codes and
ordinances. Administered the Landscape and Tree Preservation Ordinance.
Supervised four Combination Inspectors. Staff liaison to the Building Code
Board, Electrical Code Board and the Plumbing and Mechanical Code Board.
Facilitate all technical training of division staff.

Administered the Uniform Model Codes and National Electrical Code.
Issued Certificates of Occupancy to commercial businesses. Performed
additional inspections for compliance with the Zoning, Landscape and Sign
Ordinances. Acted as staff liaison to the Electrical Appeals and Advisory
Board. Wrote and administered both electrical master and journeyman
examinations.
